What Does the Dashboard Light Mean in My Land Rover Vehicle?

When it comes to keeping your Land Rover vehicle in like new condition long into the future, routine maintenance is one of the most important steps you can take. We know that it can be difficult to know when your vehicle is in need of servicing or attention, which is why your Land Rover vehicle has the ability to tell you. The sophisticated engineering of your vehicle is all intertwined and connected to a computer system that has the ability to tell you when a specific area needs attention via a variety of dashboard lights. While these lights can differ greatly between something as small as low windshield fluid to something as big as an engine issue, it's important that you know what message they're conveying. That's why we're going to highlight some of the common dashboard lights to help you identify them so you can better gauge and handle the situation.

Common Dashboard Lights

  • Low Oil Pressure: The low oil pressure symbol will illuminate in red and looks like an old oil canister. This turns on when your oil pressure is determined to be low. You should stop the vehicle and turn off the engine to check the oil level and have your oil changed as soon as possible if the level is low.
  • Low Fuel Warning: This one should be easy to recognize and simply means that your fuel level is getting towards empty and you should fill up at the pump at your earliest convenience.
  • Critical Warning Message: If you see a red triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle, it signifies a critical warning and you should bring it in for servicing immediately.
  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System: The symbol is identified by the tire tread on the bottom of the symbol and the yellow exclamation point inside of it. It signifies that one or more tires are under-inflated and you should put more air in them as soon as possible.

Since almost every function of your Land Rover vehicle is monitored by a computer system, you could likely come in contact with a variety of other dashboard lights. We encourage you to consult your owner's manual if you're unsure of what a light means, and if necessary, we welcome you to have all of your Land Rover servicing needs taken care of in our service center at Land Rover Anaheim Hills today!
