If you’re waiting on the edge of your seat for the 2023 Range Rover Sport mpg ratings, you’re certainly not alone. This model has undergone a comprehensive redesign, and although official EPA fuel economy estimates are not yet available, we’ll have more to say on its optional plug-in hybrid powertrain below.
The 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Sport mpg ratings differ from the 2022 Range Rover Sport mpg ratings in several ways: unlike the 2022 model, the 2021 Range Rover Sport offered a diesel V6 and a plug-in hybrid powertrain (in addition to all the engines seen above). You’ve got lots of options with this model year, and we’ve laid all of them out below:
Powertrains and trim levels carry over more or less unchanged from 2020 to 2021, and as a result, fuel economy specs do the same. 2020 Range Rover Sport models with the P360 powertrain get up to 19 mpg city and 24 mpg highway, while P400 builds get 18 mpg city and 23 mpg highway. Specs for the diesel and plug-in hybrid models remain the same, and the V8s are identical year-over-year as well.
If you’re looking for an exceptionally efficient Range Rover Sport, there are a couple of different ways you can go. There’s no way around the fact that the Range Rover Sport gas mileage is most impressive with the plug-in hybrid powertrain that was available in 2021 and 2020—but with the new P440e PHEV powertrain coming to the lineup in 2023, we couldn’t blame you if you were willing to wait for the latter’s much higher all-electric range.
If you’re sticking with traditional engines for now, choosing a diesel build is a great way to cut your fuel costs when you’re driving through Los Angeles and Orange County. The base-level V6 engines also perform well compared to other options in this model’s class.
