What to Expect from the Brand New Range Rover
After a comprehensive redesign, the fifth-generation Range Rover SUV is offering more than ever before. So, just what can you expect from the brand new Range Rover? Just for starters: a new lineup of Range Rover trim levels, an expanded standard feature suite, and a refined engine lineup—with plug-in hybrid and electric models set to join the lineup in 2023 and 2024, respectively. It’s also important to note that the brand new Range Rover is the first flagship Range Rover to offer seating for up to seven! We’ve laid out all the details below.
Introducing the Latest Range Rover Trims
After a 2022 Range Rover was introduced with limited changes earlier in the year, Land Rover announced the release of the all-new 2022 Range Rover back in October of 2021! Although the all-new model is also listed as a 2022 vehicle, it has been completely redesigned from top to bottom. The new array of 2022 Range Rover trim levels shows just how much has changed:
- Standard Wheelbase: Available in SE, Autobiography, First Edition, and SV trim levels
- Long Wheelbase with 7 Seats: Available in SE and Autobiography trim levels
- Long Wheelbase: Available in Autobiography, First Edition, and Range Rover SV trim levels
The list of all-new 2022 Range Rover trims starts with a slightly higher price tag, compared to the outgoing model. This year’s array starts at $104,000 MSRP.
2022 Range Rover Powertrains
Although additional powertrain options are set to join the lineup in the near future, the brand new Range Rover is currently offered with two compelling powertrains:
- 395-hp turbocharged i6 engine with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system
- 523-hp 4.4-liter V8 engine
Notably, the brand new Range Rover is significantly lighter than the outgoing model. As a result, it is much faster off the line, and its 0–60 times have never looked better. A high-performance version of the lineup-topping Range Rover SV may be introduced before too long.
The plug-in hybrid Range Rover—expected for MY 2023—will offer excellent fuel economy, as well as a projected all-electric range of up to 62 miles. Although details on the performance of the fully electric Range Rover are still forthcoming, efficiency-conscious Los Angeles-area adventurers are waiting on the edges of their seats.
What Should You Look for in the 2022 Range Rover Interior?
The latest Range Rover SUV is available with all of the leathers and woods that you’ve come to expect from yesteryear’s models—but now, buyers will also have the option to swap out the standard equipment for more sustainable (but equally luxurious) alternatives. As noted above, the Range Rover can now be optioned to seat up to seven across three rows. Of course, whether you opt for the standard wheelbase or the extended alternative, you can also configure your cabin to seat either five passengers or four, with Executive Class rear seating.
Naturally, the array of 2022 Range Rover interior features is looking better than ever. Here’s a closer look at the standard equipment:
- Pivi Pro with 13.1-inch Touchscreen
- Meridian Sound System™ with 14 Speakers
- Wireless Apple CarPlay®â€¯and Wireless Android Auto™
- 20-way heated electric front seats with power recline heated rear seats
- Perforated Windsor leather seats with Duo Tone headlining
- Sliding panoramic roof
- Cabin lighting
- Three Zone Climate
- Online Pack with Data Plan and Amazon Alexa
These are just the features that come standard! If you decide to select a more luxurious model for your drives through Orange County and Corona, you can expect to encounter features like a Head-Up Display, Hot Stone Massage Seats, Gloss White Ceramic controls, and many other niceties.
What Stands Out in the New Exterior Design?
The 2022 Range Rover looks and feels like an all-new model should: there’s no mistaking the all-new Range Rover for the outgoing 2022 model. On the whole, the new design features more curves and fewer sharp angles, giving the SUV a more unified and organic look. Those with discerning tastes have noticed that the latest Range Rover has broad similarities to the Range Rover Velar, introduced several years ago as the brand’s Avant Garde SUV—and now we see that the Velar has more than lived up to the title.
