2023 Land Rover Defender

Maybe you have dreams of taking a new Land Rover Defender on a cross-country road trip. Perhaps you just want to know how it will handle your day-to-day needs in Orange County and Corona. Either way, our guide to the latest Land Rover Defender mpg ratings can help you choose the perfect model for your needs.

The 2023 Land Rover Defender gas mileage ratings top out at 18 mpg city and 23 mpg highway, but with three body styles and three engines on the table, you’ll want to do a little more reading before you make a final decision!

Land Rover Defender Gas Mileage by Configuration

The two-door Defender 90 and the four-door Defender 110 offer the same engine options: an i4, a V6 with 48V mild-hybrid tuning, and a powerful V8. The extended Land Rover Defender 130 drops the range-topping V8, and only offers the base i4 and the optional MHEV upgrade.

Land Rover Defender 90 Fuel Economy

  • Land Rover Defender 90 with 2.0L Inline-4 Engine (P300): Up to 18 mpg city and 21 mpg highway
  • Land Rover Defender 90 with 3.0L Inline-6 MHEV Powertrain (P400): Up to 18 mpg city and 23 mpg highway
  • Land Rover Defender 90 with 5.0L V8 Engine (P525): Up to 15 mpg city and 19 mpg highway

Land Rover Defender 110 Fuel Economy

  • Land Rover Defender 110 with 2.0L Inline-4 Engine (P300): Up to 17 mpg city and 20 mpg highway
  • Land Rover Defender 110 with 3.0L Inline-6 MHEV Powertrain (P400): Up to 18 mpg city and 23 mpg highway
  • Land Rover Defender 110 with 5.0L V8 Engine (P525): Up to 14 mpg city and 19 mpg highway

Land Rover Defender 130 Fuel Economy

  • Land Rover Defender 130 with 2.0L Inline-4 Engine (P300): Up to 17 mpg city and 21 mpg highway
  • Land Rover Defender 130 with 3.0L Inline-6 MHEV P400 Powertrain (P400): Up to 17 mpg city and 21 mpg highway

Although the Defender is most efficient in its 90 or 110 configurations, when equipped with the MHEV V6 powertrain, the Land Rover Defender mpg ratings remain more or less constant across the lineup.
